We were expecting 3-6 inches of snow yesterday and instead received a good dose of ice. Its pretty but its also dangerous. The kids and I tried to play in it today but all you can really do in ice is crunch around unless you have a sled handy. We saw a couple of four wheelers zooming past with crazy neighbors tethered to the back sliding along on huge pieces of plastic. This is bad but nothing like the Ice Storm of 94 (I sound like my grandpa now). That morning we woke to the sounds of gunshots everywhere. However they weren't gunshots at all. They were tree limbs and huge whole trees crashing to the ground. People were without power for weeks and the worst part was the storm wasn't even forecast. It came out of nowhere. People were completely unprepared which is why now everyone rushes to the store the moment forecasters mention a chance of frozen precipitation. The rest of the country can laugh at us but you can be darn sure we all have bread and milk on hand!!
